写真は原木の樹皮剥き機です。以前は原木を煮沸してから皮を剝いていましたが、現在は約2メートルの原木の段階で剥きます。丸太が1本づつ台に送られると沢山の刃物の付いた部分が移動して剥いていきます。すべて自動化されています。河内長野で歯間ようじの完成品を作るのに比べ、機械は全て大型です。樹皮を剥かれた原木は約30センチに切断され、前回紹介しましたボイラーによる熱湯で約4時間煮沸されます。その後、かつら剥きして2.5ミリの板にします。
この板をボイラーの熱で乾燥させ、カッターと呼ばれる丸い上下の刃物で丸軸を削り出します。
The photo is peeling machine of row timber.In past we had peeled the bark after boiling. When each row timber is sent on the stage,the peeling machine with many blades move automatically.Compered with the process of sharpening in our factory, the machine is very big in Hokkaido.After peeled row timber is cut to about 30cm, they are boiled for 4 hours by hot water caused by boiler and peeled to board of 2.5mm in thickness. The wet board is dried by heat of boiler and cut by round blade to round sticks.
